POSTITION: ELEMENTARY PRINCIPAL

Overview: The Principal is responsible for designing, implementing, and managing the best possible educational program given the Lansing Christian School vision and mission.

Supervises: The Principal supervises Elementary School teachers, elementary school office staff, and Learning Center staff.

Reports to: The Superintendent of Lansing Christian School

Personal qualifications: The candidate we seek is a self-starter who can both plan and manage, while being involved in the details of operations. He or she easily, eagerly, and effectively assumes the role of instructional leader and demonstrates teambuilding skills. The candidate posses strong communication skills and relates well to colleagues, students, parents, and the broader school family. The prospective Principal is committed to a Christian world view, is devoted to the LCS philosophy and mission, and has signed the school Statement of Faith. The Principal candidate is passionately committed to excellence and to creating a culture of continuous improvement that is a gift to our Lord.

Professional qualifications: The candidate we seek is a dynamic Christian educator with previous elementary school administrative experience and exemplary academic credentials. The prospective Principal demonstrates the ability to motivate, encourage, challenge and evaluate colleagues, nurturing a culture of continual improvement. He or she creates an attractive and appealing school “ethos” consistent with school values, establishing clear expectations for student performance and behavior.

Professional qualifications include:

  • Collaborating with the faculty to design and implement the best educational program given the LCS vision and mission.
  • Following up to ensure that activities and program are congruent with the vision.
  • Recruiting and hiring the best possible Christian teachers, taking into account LCS students and mission.
  • Evaluating, motivating, inspiring, nurturing, and assisting professional staff to grow personally and develop to their benefit and that of LCS.
  • Establishing clear expectations for student performance and behavior. Creating and managing fair and clearly understood disciplinary process including suspension and expulsion.
  • With directors and faculty developing an appropriately wide variety of co-curricular activities in the arts, Christian service, community, and sports to interest and attract students and help them expand the boundaries of their world.
  • Creating and channeling a culture of continuous improvement, seeking constantly to improve the educational program and the service we provide to students, families, and the community.

POSTITION: DEVELOPMENT ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT

Overview: The Development Administrative Assistant provides operational and administrative support for the development activities of Lansing Christian School and the LCS Foundation. The range of duties includes general office, secretarial, fiscal, and support activities.

Reports to: Director of Development

Personal and professional qualifications: The candidate we seek is an experienced self-starter who can manage multiple priorities and has a high attention to detail. A willingness to learn, exceptional computer skills, and strong interpersonal skills are a must. Confidentiality and discretion are also important. The assistant must be committed to a Christian world view, devoted to the LCS philosophy and mission, and subscribes to the LCS statement of faith.

Responsibilities:

  • General administrative support for Director of Development
  • Donor database management– recording, tracking, reporting
  • Volunteer recruitment, coordination and tracking
  • Mass mailings and general correspondence
  • Event planning and coordination
  • Administrative support for the LCS Foundation
  • Parent, Donor and volunteer relations
  • Additional duties as assigned

POSTITION: EVERY DAY KINDERGARTEN TEACHER

Overview: The teacher we seek will relate well to young children and demonstrate particular enthusiasm for working with kindergarteners. Special consideration will be given to applicants having experience in teaching kindergarteners and having demonstrated excellence in teaching and inspiring children. This is a full-time position.

POSTITION: TEACHING OPPORTUNITIES

Lansing Christian School is accepting applications for teaching positions in all academic areas and all grade levels. We warmly welcome inquiries and will correspond with teachers whose passion is uniting their faith with their academic lives. We seek exceptional candidates with broad and deep knowledge of their subject areas and with an excitement about it. In addition, candidates will relate well to children and young people and still set limits and expectations. Recognizing that LCS is strongly committed to historic Christianity, we expect candidates will subscribe to the school’s Statement of Faith and be members in good standing of a Christian church. Preferences are for teaching experience and advanced degrees.

POSTITION: ATHLETIC COACHES

Middle School Co-Ed Soccer Coach
Description: The middle school soccer coach will be responsible for coaching a co-ed soccer team comprised of 7th and 8th grade students.  There will be up to four events per week including practices and games.  During the season, there will be around 10 games and one Saturday tournament.  The coach will also work closely with the high school coaches to develop the program.  The season begins during the week of August 25 and runs through October 8.  The coaching salary will be determined based on years of coaching experience.  The coach must be a committed Christian and be willing to sign the Lansing Christian School Doctrinal Statement.  The deadline for applications is Monday, August 18, 2008.


8th Grade Girls Volleyball Coach
Description: The 8th grade girls volleyball coach will be responsible for up to four events per week including practices and games.  During the season, there will be 11 matches and one Saturday tournament.  The coach will work closely with the other middle school coach and the high school coaches to develop the program.  The season begins during the week of August 25 and runs through October 22.  The coaching salary will be determined based on years of coaching experience.  The coach must be a committed Christian and be willing to sign the Lansing Christian School Doctrinal Statement.  The deadline for applications is Monday, August 18, 2008.
