In Honor of Norman Randall

Dear Lansing Christian School Family,

This morning, August 18, the LCS community lost a great warrior for Christ: Norm Randall entered through the gates of Heaven this morning. In his years working at Lansing Christian School he was a shining example of a Christian leader and always instilled a positive outlook as he coached the girl’s basketball team. LCS athletic director, JT told me when he called me, “I am sure he is smiling down on us.”

Please continue to uplift Norm’s family in prayer as they move through this difficult time.

Sincerely,
Pam Campbell, Superintendent

The Life of Norman Dale Randall
Norman Dale Randall was born August 3, 1946 in Hillsdale, Michigan, the son of Carl and Barbara (Hersh) Randall

He would point out to others that his early education in Hillsdale included a one room school house known as "Grubby Knoll." Norm's college education was at Michigan State where he earned his bachelor's degree in education.

Norm married the love of his life, Pamela DeFields, and together they raised three wonderful sons. He was a loving husband and father who was very proud of his children.

Norm will be remembered by most as a science teacher and coach. He was proud of teaching at Otto Middle School and coaching the basketball team to defeat the team that Magic Johnson played on. He was a science teacher and track and basketball coach at Charlotte Public Schools for 32 years. Numerous eighth grade students will remember him as the inspiring teacher who taught in the imaginative "Black Hole" on the third floor of the Charlotte Junior High School. Norm then "retired" and went to Lansing Christian where he coached for 9 years and was also the Athletic Director for 5 years. While coaching at Lansing Christian, the girls' basketball team won back-to-back State Championships in 2003 and 2004.

Norm was also very active in his church, South Church of Lansing. He could often be found working on the landscaping and other outdoor projects around the grounds while aboard his John Deere tractor. He also demonstrated his love of music by playing his trumpet in the church orchestra. His faith, which he shared with his family and friends, will continue to be an inspiration that can bring comfort to many of those who know and loved him.

Shortly after spending a week with his family celebrating his 64th birthday, Norm was stricken with an aneurysm. He died a little over a week later on Wednesday August 18, 2010. He is survived by his wife Pamela; sons, Jeff (Debi) Randall of Tampa, FL., Greg (Teri) Randall of Hastings and Scott (Stacey) Randall of Escanaba; 10 grandchildren; brother, Charles (Sharon) Randall of Osseo and sister, Beverly (Larry) Fall of Hillsdale and was loved by many nieces and nephews.

His ever present smile, quiet charm and gentle manner will always be remembered by those who knew him. "Well done, good and faithful servant."
