Dear LCS Family,
We are celebrating this week! Thanks to a generous, big-hearted, charitable, open-handed friend of Lansing Christian School our wonderful $12 million, 100,000 square foot school building is mortgage free! We received a gift this week that not only paid off the remaining mortgage, but also allowed us to pay off some of our short-term debt.
I know you share our gratitude at God’s provision through this donor. What a bright light in this world of discouraging news! Words cannot begin to express our appreciation. I would be glad to forward notes of thanks to our benefactor.
Just to answer a couple of common questions:
How much were our annual mortgage payments?
Our mortgage had been reduced to less than $.5 million, so payments were ~$90,000/year. This gift frees up about $50,000 for this school year and puts us in a much stronger long-term financial position.
Does this mean there is not a need for additional financial gifts?
NO, the 2009-10 Budget balances with nearly $500,000 in general gifts.
ALSO, our fundraising goal is $800,000* for 2009-10:
- $500,000 2009-10 operating costs (mentioned above)
- $100,000 reduce short term debt (line of credit)
- $200,000 tuition assistance/scholarships for the 2010-11 school year.
