Senior Trip, May 23-28, 2011:
Once again, the seniors will have the opportunity to travel to Washington, DC in May before they graduate. Washington, DC is an excellent location for a school trip as it provides opportunities for many areas of interest including government, history, art, biology, theatre, sports, culture, etc. Because much of what we do on the trip is centrally located and has free admission, we are able to do a lot while also keeping the cost of the trip down. This is also a trip that LCS knows well and has done successfully in the past, and we are confident that this year’s Senior Trip will be another great experience for our students.

Cost: The cost of the trip will be approximately$750 per student. This cost will include all required expenses for the trip including meals, but not optional expenses such as money for souvenirs, for snacks, etc. The cost, at this point, is an estimate based on previous trips. We are committed to keeping the cost of the trip close to the estimated amount and as affordable for families as possible.

Payments will be due according to the following schedule:

     $100 deposit: Friday, December 3

     $300: Friday, February 4

     Remaining Balance: Friday, April 15

Payments for the trip are nonrefundable.

Transportation: Transportation details are still being worked out. We are exploring both flight and charter bus options and will provide you with more information when it is available.

Lodging: We will be staying at the Holiday Inn Rosslyn at Key Bridge in Arlington, VA. (We will only be in Baltimore for a day, so we will not need to change hotels.) Information about the hotel can be found by clicking here.

Itinerary: The details of the trip are still being worked out, but here are some of the things we are hoping to do either as a whole group or as small group options: If you have questions contact Tim Blamer at :

Junior Trip, May 24-27, 2011:
During second semester, the junior class will be taking a field trip to Gettysburg, PA. We will be staying in Gettysburg and spending two days exploring the battlefield and museum. While on this trip we will take a side excursion to Harper’s Ferry, WV. It is the site of a famous attempted slave rebellion before the Civil War. We will also visit the site of the pivotal battle of Antietam in Maryland. On our way back to Lansing we will visit the temporary memorial to United 93, the September 11th flight where the passengers heroically died trying to re-take control of the plane from the hijackers. Before the trip we will spend three weeks studying these events. As it is a wonderful part of our junior history curriculum, student attendance is expected (with any exceptions needing Mrs. Hofman’s approval). What a fabulous opportunity for some hands on learning! More information coming soon. If you have questions contact Joel Tjarks at:

Junior Fundraising for Gettysburg:
The cost of the Gettysburg trip is usually in the $250-275 dollar range. The juniors are encouraged to try to work concessions and other things available at LCS to defray some of that cost. We are also running a magazine sale promotion. The students can sell magazines through a company known as “Great American Opportunities.” All proceeds go towards the Gettysburg trip. Information on this sale coming soon. This is a great way to help reduce the cost of the trip. If you have questions contact Joel Tjarks at:

8th grade trip to Chicago, June 8-9, 2011:
Check out the itinerary of the trip. There is a lot of variety -- opportunity to explore the Aquarium and downtown Chicago, Navy Pier, opportunity to swim at the hotel, and of course – good food. The students will even be traveling by charter bus. Information coming soon
