Cross Country – State Champions!

by Bonnie Binioris, Athletic Director/Health and Safety Coordinator

On November 7, 2020, the girls cross country team won the Division 4 State Championship, the first ever for Lansing Christian School!

Head coach Jon Watson credits the team of seven runners with dedication to their season and pushing each other to succeed. “Once you get a lot of buy-in, and get them to believe that they have something special, the team becomes self-motivated,” Watson said.

This special group of young ladies overpowered nearly all schools in the Lansing area, regardless of division. Also for the first time in school history, the girls team won the GLAC league title (by a stunning 20 point margin!) Madison Volz, Natalie Tebben, Ashlyn Kephart, Hope Tebben, and Mia Judd were all All-Conference selections with Anna Meyer and Corinne Ritter anchoring the team.

The team also took home the Regional Championship as they finished with all five scoring runners in the top 12. Madison Volz was Regional Champion. Natalie Tebben, Ashlyn Kephart, and Hope Tebben were All-Region 1st Team and Mia Judd finished All-Region 2nd Team.

Congratulations, to the team and Coach Watson, on their extraordinary season!
