Working at LCS
I began working at LCS in 2023. From the first week of my daughter’s kindergarten year, I’ve been so impressed by the community that I’ve seen. The teachers and staff all notice the students and speak to them.  Becoming an employee felt like becoming part of the family. Seeing the senior and kindergarten buddy pictures come up at kindergarten graduation was a sweet reminder of how quickly these years pass.

Teaching at LCS is a unique privilege. The ability to worship God in an educational setting is such an amazing opportunity to weave our faith through all aspects of Christian life. It is a blessing to partner with families in their child’s education and their faith.

Working at LCS
I came to LCS in 2008, after 20 years in public accounting and business. I  oversee the school operations, which includes finances, food service, information technology, human resources, and facilities. My husband and I have three children that are graduates of LCS.

Favorite Verse
I love the entire book of James. It is challenging, convicting, and practical. If I had to pick one verse that I hold to as I look ahead, it would be James 1:5. If you need wisdom, ask God.

Working at LCS
I have been working in Food Service Management for 40 years. I love that at LCS, students from Pre-k through 12th grade are under one roof. In the last few years, I have been so impressed with how our school responded to the challenges we had with covid – how quickly our students came online to continue their education and how we developed ways to bring our students back into the building, all while doing our best to comply with guidelines.

I have been teaching at LCS since 2005. I love children and God has filled me with a passion to help them grow spiritually and academically. I also love the family feeling and support at LCS. One year my students got me a demolition derby car. I was the only rookie and woman in the race, and I came in 3rd place!

Teaching at LCS
I have been teaching at LCS since 2005. I grew up in a Christian school in northern Virginia. When I decided to become a school teacher, I told others that I would never teach in a Christian school, but God had different plans. I have been here 17 years, all three of my kids go here, my wife substitutes as the school nurse on occasion, and we are all so thankful that God has placed us here. I have always enjoyed working with kids and trying to make sense of the world around me. Being a teacher allows me to help others do the same while I get to share what I am learning too. As students seek to understand the world around them, I love being able to be a part of a community that points them to see God and His work.

I enjoy completing house projects as I am constantly learning how to do something new. I enjoy getting outside to walk, run, bike, and swim.

I have been teaching at LCS since 2006. I became a teacher because I enjoy helping people learn. I love that at LCS, I can stop my lesson so we can pray for a student in need.

Teaching at LCS
I began teaching at LCS in 2019. I love the community and sense of belonging at LCS. I will never forget my first day at LCS: backpacks were piled together in the commons and students just left their bags, phones, car keys, wallets, computers, school work, and personal items there while they walked into chapel. I nervously asked someone if I should stand guard and watch the bags while kids were in chapel, and I was told no. I had never worked in a school where the culture of trust and respect was so high, and that memory has always stayed with me. 

Favorite Things
First and foremost, I love spending time with my family. As for hobbies and interests, I enjoy reading, running, hiking, baking, and spending time with friends.

I started teaching at LCS in 2021.  What I love about LCS is the students! I love working with them and helping them grow their vocal abilities. One of my favorite memories is doing a “flash mob” Christmas performance during lunch due to our concert being canceled in 2021.

I came to LCS in 2022 after 15 years in education. The Lansing Christian community is wonderful. I love the community events that bring families and students together, such as our sporting events, concerts, and retreat.

I began working at LCS in 2010 and have served many roles throughout my years at Lansing Christian School. I  have three children that have attended LCS since preschool – one graduate and two current high school students.

I began working at LCS in 2021, though my time at LCS actually began as a student and teacher’s kid! Now as a staff member, it’s a privilege to see all that the teachers and staff pour in day in and day out for the students and to be a part of communicating with the greater community about the opportunity for a Christian education. As a parent of students here, I love seeing my children blossom in an environment where they are known and loved.

Working at LCS
I began working at LCS in 2017 as a teacher, and taught for 12 years before this. I taught middle and high school Spanish and elementary coding prior to my role as Elementary Principal. I became a Spanish teacher because I found new languages and cultures so exciting. It was very rewarding to help students in their ability to communicate in Spanish and to grow in their understanding, curiosity, and appreciation for people and cultures different from their own. I knew that I was going to be in education since I was about 3 years old. My grandmother was a first grade teacher. I spent time with her in the mornings before school helping her to clean the chalkboards, make copies, and correct papers. I fell in love!

I have been teaching at LCS since 2004. I love the amazingly creative, committed, and hard-working teachers and staff and the community of students and families at LCS. I love learning with other LCS teachers about transformational learning.

I love being active and being outside, but I also love to read and bake. My favorite activities are kayaking and paddle boarding.

I have been working at LCS since 1997.  I graduated from LCS in 1969 and now as an employee, I have so many favorite memories. The 50th reunion of the school is one of my top favorites because of all the parents, students, and former staff that came to celebrate.

I began teaching at LCS in 2015, took a hiatus to be home, and then God called me back to teaching! I love explaining things or demonstrating skills in a way that most people will understand. There is something magical when a student gains confidence and skill as the lessons move forward.
I remember the moment I realized how important this school is to its students. I was preparing for the day in my art room and chapel was just beginning. All I could hear was young students singing praise songs, loud and strong! Like their whole soul was invested. It filled my room and filled me up with joy, encouragement, love, and a warmth that was unforgettable.

Favorite Things
I enjoy my home and backyard. I enjoy watching the scenery, tending to my chickens, bees, and indoor animals as well. I also enjoy just hanging out with my family with no agenda or time restraints. And I love going on adventures! I took a 10 day hiking trip through the Teton Mountains and I’ve been rock climbing in the Rockies. When I have mountains and trees, I’m very happy; but when I have a large sky in front of me, that is the best. If there is a horseback riding experience available, I usually jump at the chance!

I began working at LCS in 2020, and worked for nine years prior to this as an elementary educator. I attended a Christian school as a child and my own teachers had a huge impact on my life, not only through academic teaching but through speaking truth and love into my life through their example and relationship with me. I’m so blessed to be a part of the LCS community; it’s exciting to provide a cultivating environment of growth and learning and bear witness to students actively seeking the Lord in their personal lives. I love seeing students engage in the Christian culture here by sharing their faith through kindness or witnessing with others about the Gospel.

I enjoy family time most of all. I like to spend my free time singing, playing guitar, gardening, baking, site-seeing, hiking, reading, scrapbooking, playing games, and watching old movies.

I began teaching at LCS in 2013, and taught for 20 years prior to coming to LCS. I love directing music and seeing the students improve, grow, and apply music. One of my favorite memories at LCS is one of our recent spring concerts. The groups played so well. You never know what might happen at a live performance.

I have been working at LCS since 2007. I enjoy sharing my love for history in a wonderful community environment! I love all the Gettysburg trips I have gotten to lead and the role playing as the Speaker of the House of Representatives with Student Statesmanship Institute. I also have enjoyed playing my guitar at Christmas chapels. Teaching gives me the opportunity to impact people’s lives and to continue investigating and learning more history.

I like to read history books and listen to music, as well as attend live music concerts.  I also like to watch hockey games and play guitar.

Teaching at LCS
I began teaching at LCS in 2022, and taught math for 16 years prior to this. I have always wanted to be a teacher. I spent the summer between my junior and senior year of college in China teaching English with ELIC. After several tutoring experiences, I realized God had gifted me with the ability to teach mathematics. I love teaching because I love facilitating the learning process in teenagers and providing them the knowledge and thinking skills needed for college and career opportunities.

I enjoy spending time with my family – walks, bike rides, board games, sporting events, and spending time up north. I enjoy traveling and exploring new places.

I began teaching at LCS in 2009. I became a teacher because I knew the Lord had given me the gift of teaching – specifically understanding and communicating the scriptures.  Therefore, I was following my Master’s leading. I love influencing young and developing minds to love and pursue God more and more. As a teacher, I have two significant school traditions: Bowtie Mondays and Accent Fridays.

I enjoy reading books, drinking good coffee, riding my bike, and mowing my yard.

Teaching at LCS
I love to teach, especially at LCS, because of the relationships I can make and grow with students and staff every day. Each day is a new opportunity!  Teaching is an opportunity to come alongside a younger generation, one that is sought after by all sorts of passions and pleasures from the world, and model the way of unexpected grace – a way to live humbly and confidently for Jesus. I have been teaching at LCS since 2015; my first teaching job was in Senegal, West Africa. One of my favorite LCS memories is watching the LCS girls soccer team win back-to-back state titles!

When I’m not teaching, I enjoy spending time with my family attending sporting events. Our favorites are football, basketball, and soccer.

I have been teaching at LCS since 2014. I like working with young people and always enjoyed math. So, I added the two together to become a math teacher! One of my favorite times at LCS is fall retreat. It is a wonderful time of enjoying God, nature, and spending time with fellow teachers and students.

I began teaching high school English and Psychology at LCS in 2015. I chose teaching as a profession because of my love for lifelong learning and my desire to see students grow into curious and confident learners themselves. My role as the College and Career Counselor stemmed from my desire to see student’s dream about and live into their unique calling and help them make wise, thoughtful choices in the process. I love the way the LCS community is committed to loving others with the love of Christ while pursuing ongoing growth. One of my favorite LCS memories is watching high school students sing “Storm the Walls” at high school retreat. The energy, joy, and fun they have is unmatched in that moment.

I love to read, cook, and spend time outdoors (especially camping) with my husband and two active boys.

I have been teaching at LCS since 2007. I love working with kids, making difficult concepts easy to understand, and looking for God’s fingerprints in His creation.  Teaching gives me the opportunity to do all of this while creating a culture of laughter and connection at the same time. I love the staff at LCS and I enjoy helping students to discover how complex and worthy of praise God is by studying His amazing creation.

Teaching at LCS
I began teaching at LCS in 2007. I’ve felt God calling me to be an art teacher since I was in 5th grade. I love that I get to teach students that God, the master artist, created each of us in His image, and we are made to create. I also love keeping in touch with students who have graduated and seeing how God is using their lives and art, whatever that may look like, to bring Him glory.

I enjoy traveling with my family, hosting family gatherings & brunch with friends, planning parties, baking, gardening, and spending time by the lake.

Teaching at LCS
I have been teaching at LCS since 1999. I love seeing how God works through our community to shape his people toward the Purpose they were created for. I believe God put me in this place for this role. If you want more of the story, talk to me about it sometime.

I have been teaching at LCS since 2002. I love to see the look on students’ faces when they get it. School was hard for me, and I have always wanted to help children and let them know they can be successful no matter what. I enjoy middle school retreat every year as well as directing the musical, which always provides wonderful memories.

Teaching at LCS
I have been teaching at LCS since 2016. I became a teacher because I love to learn new things and wanted to give kids an opportunity to discover a love of learning for themselves and to walk alongside them as they try. There is something uniquely wonderful about inviting kids into a love of learning and seeing them discover their own gifts, talents, and passions.

Favorite Things
I enjoy camping, traveling, and spending time with my wife, Katherine, and our two boys. I also enjoy playing and listening to music, and I really like to skateboard.

My deep hope is that my students learn through mathematics the confidence to try new things, the persistence to take on challenges, the joy of discovery, and the unique way God has created them and others.

Teaching at LCS
I have been teaching at LCS since 2014.  I became a teacher because I wanted to help students grow as people and learners, and to share my God-given passions with them. I love that at LCS I am able to openly share with my students how God is working in my life.

I love any opportunity to be outside in nature, especially hiking and camping. And I love strategy games!

Teaching at LCS
I began teaching at LCS in 2015. I have wanted to be a teacher since I was 5 years old and have never wavered. I love the “aha” moment that students get when they finally understand something tricky. I love the community and support that I receive from my administration and colleagues and any time we are able to worship together.

I sing on the worship team at my church, and I love to be outdoors with my family!

Teaching at LCS
I have been teaching at LCS since 2004. Growing up, my mom was a preschool teacher and I would help out in her classroom at times.  I really enjoyed working with the children and experiencing their enthusiasm for learning. I chose a teaching career  because I love to be with young children as they experience new things with wonder and excitement! One of my favorite times at LCS is the all school chapel on the first day of school each year. It is so meaningful to begin the year with prayer.

I began teaching at LCS in 2020. I love to teach so I can come alongside kids and help them grow in their faith, connect with what they are learning, and learn to love the beautiful masterpiece God created them to be. I love not only being a teacher, but being a mom and having the joy of being able to watch my kids grow up attending LCS.

I love to travel with my family, specifically up north to Burt Lake.  I also love to play the piano and sing with my husband.

I began teaching at LCS in 2011. I became a teacher because of the wonderful impact my elementary teachers had on me when I was a student.  I love to be able to share my faith with my students, and watch them grow and develop in academics and their love for Jesus. I love all of the times we are able to get together for staff community building at LCS.

It is my deep hope that my students will know that God thinks they are AWESOME! And that He has a good plan for their lives and loves them no matter what! So, they should shine His love to others.

Teaching at LCS
I have been working at LCS since 1986. I love to be able to teach children about Jesus! I love little children and the excitement they have for life and learning. It has been special for me to go up on stage during graduation to congratulate the “lifers” – those who attended LCS K-12 – and see the students I taught as kindergarteners graduating.

I enjoy walks outside, working in my yard, watching movies, going out to dinner, and seeing friends.

I have been teaching at LCS since 2004. I began teaching because I wanted to use the gifts and talents that the Lord had given me to meet the educational needs of missionary kids whose parents were serving with us in Ethiopia and Kenya. I love engaging with kids in their learning at LCS and helping them discover God and their place in His story. It brings me great joy!

In my spare time I enjoy taking long walks (especially along the lakeshore) and reading books.

Teaching at LCS
I began working at LCS in 2001. Teaching makes all other careers possible.  This is the best profession for equipping others while continuing to learn myself. Lansing Christian is a big family!  I cherish how colleagues sharpen each other’s skills and support each other personally. During my first year of working at LCS, my toddler daughter was accidentally burned and we were thrust into a lot of unknowns. Instantly my colleagues, students’ families, janitors, administrators – everyone at LCS helped with our needs and carried us through those next few years.  I’ll always remember how overwhelmed I was by their generosity and desire to truly walk with us during a painful time.

I like finding and restoring antiques, taking unexpected road trips, gardening, and spending time with my daughters.

I began working at LCS in 2021. Prior to LCS, I taught for 13 years; I love to watch my students grow and discover new and exciting things.

Teaching at LCS
I knew that I wanted to be an elementary teacher since I was in first grade. I always loved school and looked up to my teachers. I felt a calling to help foster a positive foundation for lifelong learning in children. I began teaching at LCS in 2006. I love that at LCS I am challenged professionally and spiritually through my work. LCS supports me in being a creative teacher and in designing learning experiences that give students the opportunity to live out their role in God’s story.

Favorite Things
I love spending time with my family. We love living in the country, riding our go-karts, and going camping together. I also love to crochet and make amigurumi!
