I am extremely excited about the 2014-2015 sports seasons. In my second year at Lansing Christian I know the potential and the drive of our student athletes and coaches while honoring Christ in all their actions on the playing surface.
A constant goal that I have for our student-athletes and coaches is the striving of building relationships through athletics. I feel that last year we did a great job of that, but we always have the opportunity to do better. Relationships are the reason that I as well as others, want to be a part of the LCS community. We will continue to work hard to make building relationships whether it is through fellow students, opponents, or their personal relationship with Jesus Christ, a culture within our LCS family.
The second goal that I had for our athletic program is to build programs playing at high levels. This too, is a continual work in progress as no team can achieve perfection. Mistakes are part of sports. Learning from mistakes is a must if our teams are to continue to play at a high level. Athletics at LCS is an awesome environment to be a part of. Whether you are a player, student, coach, parent, or alumni, we would love to have you be a part of our programs as we strive for excellence.
LCS continues to offer a wide variety of opportunities when it comes to athletics. Our participation rate is just above 70%. We offer 19 varsity sports with many of them right here on LCS campus along with a few co-op opportunities. We also offer JV and freshman teams for many of the programs along with Middle School and Elementary sports.
Be on the lookout for our new Athletic Council! The idea of the council is to improve athletics through students. This organization is run by students and they have come up with ideas to promote LCS athletics throughout our building.
I look forward to getting to know you on a personal level as together we pursue honoring God through athletics at Lansing Christian School.
