ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE – MARIAN HENDERSON ’19

by Andrew Kleyn, Middle School and High School Principal

Our vision statement can be seen and measured in the lives of our graduates. A powerful example is in the life and work of Marian Henderson (Class of 2019). Marian is attending Calvin University to study Biology and Spanish. Marian is using her knowledge and skills to engage the world both near and far. This past year, she visited LCS high school biology classes to share research she has conducted at Calvin University and at the University of Michigan. The LCS biology teacher, Miss Joos, says that Marian’s presentation “invited students to use what they’re learning right now to do something for others and to bring heaven here.” Marian helps further Christ’s kingdom by using her biology knowledge to search for cures and treatments for various viruses and diseases.

“Marian’s presentation invited students to use what they’re learning right now to do something for others and to bring heaven here.” – Kelly Joos, LCS Biology Teacher

Marian also engages the broader world. She is currently studying in Honduras and is working at a hospital there.  This summer, Marian will continue her research and will work for Michigan State University to further study medical research. We look forward to seeing the ways Marian continues to use her learning and opportunities to engage and transform the world for Jesus Christ.
