Learning Beyond the Classroom

As our 9th grade students study Romeo and Juliet, they had an opportunity to learn more deeply about the distinction between fictional infatuation and authentic Christ-like love. Their learning objective was to “recognize the difference between shallow infatuation and deep, genuine Christ-like love.” To help them with this learning, the students traveled to Grandhaven Living Center to learn from the life experience of the residents. Mrs. Lohman designed the learning experience to equip students to “analyze both fictional characters and real-life circumstances to recognize God’s restorative view of love.” We are grateful for our cooperation with community organizations and recognize the benefit of learning beyond the classroom.
