At Lansing Christian School, we believe we have been blessed with the some of the most outstanding faculty members. Each and every one of them plays an instrumental role in your child’s academic, social, and spiritual development.
For example, meet Susan Hileman, one of our teachers who left her career as an engineer to pursue her calling of becoming an educator.
Mrs. Hileman came to us in 2006, working part-time while becoming certified in Math Education. Her children were students of ours, and she knew this was where she wanted to eventually teach.
Today, she teaches high school mathematics, AP Calculus, AP Statistics, Pre-Calculus, and Introduction to Physics. She loves being part of the LCS learning community as she believes both students and teachers alike never truly stop learning about the world around them or stop working toward improving their craft.
“Our academics prepare students for their futures. We also help students to be team players, to serve others, and to use the gifts God has given them,” Mrs. Hileman said.
She’s looking forward to the upcoming school year as it is full of new potential and smiling faces, eager to learn. She is ready to introduce a new group of students to the world of mathematics and to challenge them to learn new concepts and then apply those to real-world scenarios.
When asked what the most rewarding part of her work is, she replied with this: “It is when I’ve pushed students to work hard to challenge themselves, to struggle through the learning process and then [see] the joy on their faces when they succeed.”
