Distinguished Alumni Award

The Distinguished Alumni Award is given each year to an alumnus who exemplifies integrity and Christian character whether on the job, at home, or in the community. They have also remained loyal to LCS through their partnership with the school in a variety of ways. The 2023 recipient of the Annual Distinguished Alumni Award is Laurie Iversen.

Our Distinguished Alumni receipient for 2023 is no stranger to LCS.  As a young girl she came to LCS in the 5th grade and graduated with the class of 1975.

In the fall of 1980 she came back to the school to teach…she had been bit by the bug of being a Pilgrim teacher at her alma mater.  Her teaching career involved classes such as US History, US Government, Yearbook and a variety of other classes. Of course being involved with the LCS history classes allowed her to help lead many Junior class trips to Gettysburg as well as Senior trips to a variety of places but mostly Washington DC.  When not in the classroom she helped produce many plays and musicals as well as helping to paint the sets.

Our recipient has contributed to the community in part by her involvement at  Trinity Church where she has served for many years as an usher and teller. In fact, she was the first female usher at Trinity!

Involvement in the basketball program was also a part of her life as she was often and still is today sitting at the game table as a timer and scorer for the Pilgrims.  Her years of commitment in this role led her to be honored with a Basketball Coach’s Association of Michigan award in 2016.

It is with great joy that we honor, Laurel (Laurie) Iversen as the 2023 Distinguished Alumni recipient.
