Spiritual Formation at LCS

Spiritual formation is what sets Christian education apart and is a pillar of the Christ-centered liberal arts education that takes place at LCS. It is at the core of fulfilling our Missionas we define excellence in education as both providing an academically challenging environment and equipping students to exalt God and follow Christ in all of life.

It is a wonderful thing to be part of a community that combines learning and faith, and we are passionate about fostering student learning within the framework of Biblical truth. To truly embody our mission and vision, we must give students the opportunity to recognize God’s design and ongoing work within the grand biblical narrative of Creation, Fall, and Redemption. Students are then invited to join God in this work by playing their role in His ongoing story of restoration.

This means connecting students’ daily learning to this biblical story in every classroom and subject. At LCS, it begins with teaching from a place of deep hope for both ourselves and our students… a clear expression of why we are called to Lansing Christian School and what drives our passion for the grades or subjects we teach. It shapes our lesson plans and interactions with students, always illuminating God’s presence in the content we teach.

During Parent Night, parents hear teachers share their Deep Hopes as part of their introductions. Some parents have the chance to share their own Deep Hope for their children. As we continue into the school year, deepening learning and settling into routines, we encourage parents to watch for the ways this hope is lived out in their child’s learning. We are honored to partner with parents in the journey of Christian education.
