The Parent-School Partnership at LCS
At Lansing Christian School, partnership is fundamental to our mission. To us, it’s more than just a word. It’s our commitment to work hand-in-hand with you – the Christian parent – as we educate children to the full extent of their God-given abilities.
Before we outline what makes a successful partnership at LCS, it’s important first to identify the kind of family for whom we are a good fit. LCS exists to partner with:
- Christian families who are fully aligned with our values and philosophy about Christ-centered liberal arts education.
- Those embracing our full mission (as opposed to seeking just one benefit, such as optimal class sizes or athletic opportunities).
- Parents who desire to work closely and respectfully with us as a school, while embracing their role as primary shepherd of their children’s education.
- Students and families looking for strong academics and well-rounded schooling.
We’re a collaborative community dedicated to each child’s growth and success. We also believe it’s important to establish alignment early in the process, rather than after a family has already enrolled.
So, what does a successful educational partnership at Lansing Christian School look like? Below are five key commitments shared between home and school.
Christian Commitment
Our commitment to you:
- Integrating a biblical worldview into every aspect of our liberal arts education
- Having Christian faculty and staff who mentor students towards spiritual maturity
- Fostering character and leadership development to shape morally grounded leaders
Your family’s commitment:
At LCS, we view a family’s commitment to Christian values as the foundation of a strong partnership. We partner with those who are practicing those values in everyday life. When a biblical worldview is embraced at home and families are meaningfully engaged in a bible-believing church, home and school are naturally aligned, allowing us to walk together in guiding your child’s educational journey. As part of this partnership, at least one parent or guardian must profess faith in Jesus Christ as Savior, and agree in writing to support the LCS Doctrinal Statement, Mission, Philosophy of Education, and all school policies.
Commitment to Grace and Truth
Our commitment to you:
- Clear, open communication between home and school
- Opportunities for parents to share thoughts and perspectives
- Collaborating to find solutions that work best for your child and your family
- A community where students, parents, and staff feel mutually appreciated and supported
Your family’s commitment:
Parents play a vital role in building a community based on mutual respect and understanding. When families and the school work together in a spirit of cooperation, we create an environment where thoughtful conversations and healthy conflict resolution can thrive. It’s about setting an example for students, showing them how to honor authority and approach challenges with grace.
Academic Commitment
Our commitment to you:
- Academic preparation for college and beyond
- Personalized attention through smaller class sizes where teachers truly know each student
- A focus on the whole child, nurturing spiritual, intellectual, social, and physical growth
- Comprehensive college advising, advanced courses, and extracurriculars
Your family’s commitment:
LCS believes in setting students up for success. Academic readiness means your child is prepared to succeed in the classroom, and fully engaged for the challenges of their grade level. We want every student to be confident in their abilities, knowing they have the foundation to excel in our supportive learning environment.
Growth Mindset Commitment
Our commitment to you:
- Faculty and staff who are dedicated, caring and devoted to your student’s success
- Excellent academics with personalized support to guide each student
- Extracurriculars in arts, athletics, and more, to form well-rounded graduates
- A Christ-centered, positive environment that keeps students motivated and focused
Your family’s commitment:
At LCS, we value a student’s willingness to grow, both academically and spiritually. We’re looking for students who are intellectually curious, adaptable, and resilient — ready and excited to embrace new challenges and experiences. This joy in learning helps students make the most of every opportunity.
Financial Commitment
Our commitment to you:
- Transparency and fairness in all financial policies to support a positive partnership
- Combining tuition to the extent possible to cover fees, activities, technology, and athletics
- Opportunity for Tuition Assistance to those who show demonstrated need
Your family’s commitment:
A family’s financial commitment plays a key role in their partnership with our school. At LCS, we seek parents who are prepared to invest in their child’s education, meet tuition requirements, and support the school in ways that align with their abilities. This shared vision helps us provide every student with the opportunity to grow, while also contributing to the success of the broader school community.
If our Partnership Commitments resonate with your family, we encourage you to take the next step.
