THIS YEAR’S FUND RUN IS
This year, we are asking our elementary students to take part in a Virtual Fund Run that will allow students, and their families, to live out our school’s theme, Loving Our Neighbor, by supporting our school community and a local organization that provides food for children in the Greater Lansing area.
Students are asked to collect sponsors for a mile run/walk in their own neighborhood the weekend of October 10-11. As they move around their community students will pray for the needs of those they live near and to be an encouragement to those they may meet along the way. Sponsorships will support the quality Christ-centered education at Lansing Christian School, and 25% of the money raised will be donated to Weekend Survival Kits, a local organization that provides meals for kids in the Greater Lansing area that are experiencing food instability.
All students are challenged to raise approximately $75 to help us reach our goal of $15,000 to support the people and programs at LCS and to provide a significant gift of encouragement to a local organization. To help us get started, Tasmanian Tires has generously offered to match the first $2500 we receive.Once a student has reached the $25 threshold they will receive a race pack which includes a special Fund Run race badge and a Loving Our Neighbor water bottle. For each additional $25 they raise they will get a sticker to put on the back of their race badge. To limit person-to-person contact, all sponsorships may be made online.
This is not a race in the traditional sense, students will not be asked to submit their times or ensure that they walk a full mile and they have a full weekend to complete the Fund Run. We are setting one mile as a target to give students enough time to pray and engage with those around them. If someone doesn’t live in a neighborhood conducive to walking they can walk around the school and pray for the LCS community. We encourage parents to participate as well and send photos or post about the event on social media with #LCSFundRun.
