Teaching to Learn: Science in Action
At Lansing Christian School, we believe one of the best ways to deepen understanding is to teach what you have learned. In Ms. Joos’ 10th‑grade Biology class, students put this principle into practice with creative photosynthesis projects designed for 2nd‑grade learners.
To share these concepts with younger students, our 10th‑graders were challenged to think deeply, plan carefully, and explain ideas clearly — all of which served to strengthen their own understanding. The project not only reinforced content mastery around the science of God’s creation, but also encouraged patience, thoroughness, and a sense of responsibility.
Through this experience, students practiced Christ’s call to serve others, sharing the wonder of God’s world with curiosity, care, and intellectual rigor. They discovered that learning can be a gift shared with others.
