The Value of Cross-Grade Collaboration

As a PreK–12 school all on one campus, LCS has a unique opportunity to cultivate meaningful relationships among students across grade levels. These interactions serve important academic and personal purposes, reinforcing both learning and character development within an academically challenging environment that fosters spiritual, intellectual, social, and physical growth.

Throughout the school year, students from the elementary, middle, and high school levels work together to accomplish specific learning goals. Whether collaborating on projects such as animal reports or engaging with one another in structured activities, students at every level benefit from these experiences. Such relationships help students recognize that learning is cumulative and interconnected, encourage mutual support, and provide opportunities to share knowledge across age groups.

These interactions also foster a broader sense of responsibility and awareness beyond one’s own classroom. Older students model leadership, patience, and encouragement, while younger students gain confidence and insight from their example. Cross-grade relationships contribute not only to academic growth but also to the development of character and a greater understanding of one’s role within the school community.

At LCS, we equip students to exalt God and follow Christ in all aspects of life. Cross-grade relationships are one way we prepare students to learn with humility, lead with integrity, and contribute meaningfully to the communities of which they are a part.
