High School Service Week

At Lansing Christian School, we believe Christian love is more than an idea or a feeling. Love takes action.

Every spring, that conviction comes to life during our annual High School Service Week. For three full days, our students trade classrooms for the community, serving throughout Greater Lansing. They sit with veterans and hear their stories. They prepare meals in rescue shelters. They help build homes with Habitat for Humanity. They spend unhurried afternoons with the elderly. Through these experiences, our students encounter real needs, develop practical skills, and see up close what Christ-like leadership looks like in real life.

Middle School & Elementary Service Day

Meanwhile, right here on campus, Elementary and Middle School students are learning the same lesson in smaller ways. They help teachers, care for our school, and discover early that true leadership begins with a servant’s heart.

But Service Week doesn’t just change the people and places our students serve. It changes them. In choosing to seek the good of others with joy, they learn to look beyond themselves. And in doing so, they make the love of Christ something people don’t just hear about, but see.

Elementary Service Teams

In fifth grade, our crosswalk “Safety Patrol” members serve the school community by helping students and families safely navigate their way to and from parking lots before and after school. They serve in all kinds of weather with cheerful dedication. 

Fourth-grade “Kindergarten Helpers” support some of our youngest students by walking them safely to their cars each afternoon, serving with patience and kindness.

High school biology students study the dangers of waterborne microorganisms and malaria, then put learning into action by serving those affected worldwide. Through creative fundraising efforts – including designing and selling t-shirts and stickers – classes annually raise around $10,000 for World Vision to provide clean drinking water and mosquito bed nets to families in need. Over the past fifteen years, LCS biology students have donated more than $80,000 through this project.
