Spirit Week at Lansing Christian School

Spirit Week is a time to celebrate Lansing Christian School and the incredible gifts and talents God has given our students. Spirit Week is an ongoing tradition that spans over one week in February, where students participate in several unique and creative activities that encourage them to work together as a class. In addition to these activities, students demonstrate their understanding of our yearly spiritual theme through artwork, video production, battle of the bands, and creating a space.

The week culminates with an assembly that includes student performances in “Battle of the Bands” and the showing of class video productions. In the evening, we host our Homecoming basketball games, present the Distinguished Alumni Award, and honor our Homecoming court.

Student dress up days add to the fun of Spirit Week! This year saw Crazy Hair/ Clash, Olympics, Class Choice, Character, and Black & Gold days. Class sponsors select the best-dressed male and female student from their class for a prize at each day’s assembly.

9th-12th graders work together as classes to create and compete in four major projects – Create a Space, Artwork, Video Production, and Battle of the Bands – to demonstrate an understanding of the school’s yearly spiritual theme. This year, students created around this year’s theme Rooted in Love. Rooted in Hope.

Classes compete in afternoon and after-school activities throughout the week, which include: Class Relays and Tug of War, Class Scavenger Hunt/Minute to Win It, Trivia, Dodgeball, Chess, Ping Pong, Euchre, and Puzzle, where as a class, a 1000 piece puzzle must be completed as quickly as possible.

Spirit Week wouldn’t be possible without our parents! Spirit Week activities extend far beyond school hours, and parents provide snacks and meals throughout the week and help support students through supervision as they complete their many projects and activities. A special thank you to all of the parents who joined us for Spirit Week.
