What year did you graduate?
1969

What do you value about LCS?
I value the commitment LCS has maintained through the years to teach and guide students through God’s word as they apply it to their academic studies. I also greatly appreciate the support teachers and administration give to the students.  It’s not just academic – it’s personal interest in their growth as a person. They teach, listen, and mentor students as they walk through the world they live in…we are Pilgrims. However, the greatest value that LCS teaches comes from the school verse: “That they might set their hope in God.” Psalm 78:7

What brought you to LCS?
My parents learned about LCS when it first began.  I was enrolled in the fall of 1956.  I experienced the early growth of the school and saw God’s hand in building it from the vision of parents to the physical construction of a building to house the students. In fact, I was part of the student work team on the first gym built in 1969. The early faith of parents and teachers was great and I believe that continues today. It has influenced my life greatly.

In what ways have you or your family grown in your faith as a result of the experience at LCS?
Since both my husband and our children are graduates of LCS, I have seen our faith in God strengthened and practiced. Our teachers taught us how to think critically through life topics so that we could logically give a reason for our beliefs and thoughts. We have been involved in our community and church because the school reinforced what our parents were teaching at home.

As a parent, why did you choose to invest in a Christian education for your child at LCS?
We chose LCS because it is an interdenominational school.  We believed our children would be grounded in their Christian faith and also see how God is at work in other faith-based churches that might be a different denomination than what our children were growing up in.  The greatest reason for investing in LCS is that is a biblically-based school and the decisions that govern it are based on the Bible. Those values have not changed and have truly stood the test of time. Today, three of my grandchildren, along with a couple of grand nieces and nephews, attend or have graduated from LCS.

What would you say to students and families considering a Christian education at LCS?
LCS will provide a well-rounded education for your child – one that equips them academically and spiritually to walk through life with confidence.

How has your family benefitted from the Christian community at LCS?
Today we all have lifelong friends because of LCS.  These friends were helpful and encouraging as students and are even more so as adults.  Our paths have crossed through doing business and church together as well as finding our lifelong partners.  Both me and my daughter found our mates at LCS! 🙂

How has LCS prepared you and your children for the future?
LCS gave me and has given my children the academic knowledge and spiritual strength to walk through life with confidence, whether it be in the workplace, the mission field, or building a family.

What are some of your favorite moments or memories at LCS?
My first memories were of working together with other families to keep the school clean.  In the early days families were the facility keepers, it was a lot of fun!  Being part of a team of students that helped construct the first gym was memorable.  The LCS 50th anniversary was a memory of all time. We had just moved into the current location and we celebrated teachers, administrators, and parents who had labored to bring LCS to where it is today.
