Who We Are

Lansing Christian School was established in 1951 by a group of families who had a vision for a Preschool-12 Christian school that would be vigorously academic and thoroughly Christian. For more than 70 years LCS has partnered with Christian parents. Now we see alumni bringing their children, and even grandchildren, for a Christian education that transforms and inspires lives.

High School College and Career Counselor (Part-Time)

High School College and Career Counselor (Part-Time)
2025–2026 School Year

Position Overview:
Lansing Christian School is seeking a part-time College and Career Counselor for the 2025–2026 school year. The ideal candidate will be passionate about guiding high school students through their college and career exploration journey, while integrating faith into every aspect of their work.

Substitute Teaching

Lansing Christian School is seeking applicants for substitute teachers for all grade levels (preschool-12th grade). Applicants should have 60 hours of college credit. Education background is preferred but not necessary.

High School English Teacher

Personal qualifications:  Recognizing that Lansing Christian School is strongly committed to the Christian faith, we seek a teacher whose passion is uniting his/her faith with a love for working with high school students and the ability to cultivate a positive and engaging educational environment.

Professional qualifications:  We are seeking a dedicated English teacher for high school classes, available for either a part-time or full-time position. Candidates must hold an active Michigan teaching certification with an English Language Arts (ELA) Endorsement. Preferred applicants will have experience teaching middle or high school ELA. Ideal candidates will demonstrate a commitment to student-centered instruction, effective collaboration with colleagues, and a growth mindset in their teaching practice.

Elementary Principal

Elementary Principal

Reports to: Head of School

Supervises: Director of Preschool, PreK and Elementary teachers and aides, Aftercare staff, Coordinator of Elementary Scheduling, Coordinator of Elementary Chapel, Coordinator of Recess Aides, and Elementary Administrative assistant.

Purpose/Overview: The Elementary Principal is responsible for overseeing, managing, organizing and leading all spiritual, student/parent, academic/curricular, teaching and general administrative duties of the elementary school.

  • Strategic thinker with excellent communication skills that can creatively work with others.
  • Enjoys communicating and building relationships with a wide variety of people in the community and has a special interest in student recruitment, retention and school promotion.
  • A warm and charismatic personality that fosters positive relationships with students, staff, parents and constituents.
  • Passionate about serving the Lord and others with an attitude of joy and encouragement.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide academic and curriculum leadership in the PreK-5th grade with emphasis on excellence and Christian principle integration.
  • Provide teacher oversight and accountability for K-5 annual curriculum mapping work.
  • Team with Head of School and Director of Business and Finance in managing the Elementary School within a reasonable budget.
  • Foster the professional development and growth of teachers.
  • Ensure effective evaluation of all teaching staff.
  • Relevant and meaningful spiritual input for faculty, staff and students.
  • Successfully staffing, in coordination with the Head of School, the Elementary School with dynamic mission minded employees.
  • Student behavior management is fair, clear, consistent and effective.
  • Professional and positive relationships with parents in a partnership with them.
  • Regular communication with parents and staff.
  • Ensure preschool and aftercare programs maintain proper licensing and are following state rules and regulations.

Duties and Tasks:

  • Determine appropriate staffing needs for effective operations within Elementary.
  • Recommending new staff for employment after screening and interviewing applicants.
  • Evaluate teachers according to evaluation policies and procedures and develop teacher improvement plans as necessary as well as recommendations regarding future employment.
  • Approve and oversee elementary fundraising learning experiences in coordination with the Director of Development.
  • Oversee the implementation of PreK-5 standardized assessment.
  • Oversee the implementation of the PreK-5 Teacher Mentoring Program.
  • Organize and oversee weekly chapel programs and PAWS (Praise and Worship our Savior).
  • Conduct educational consultations with PreK-5th grade applicants with the purpose of understanding student needs and potential student/family success at LCS.
  • Maintain updated elementary handbooks in coordination with school policies and procedures.
  • Manage student behavior issues and parent communications related to student behavior both personally and by instruction and counseling teaching staff.
  • Oversee weekly e-letters from elementary office as well as individual teacher communication with parents. 
  • Assist with teacher orientation and professional development and responsible for staff meetings.
  • Ensure curriculum reviews are occurring regularly, and curriculum is coordinated throughout school.
  • Observe classrooms and assist teachers in teaching methods, pupil relationships and curriculum content.
  • Approve field trip requests, supply and curriculum requests in coordination with learning goals and budget constraints.
  • Assist in developing and monitoring the budget for PreK-5th grade programming and coordinate the ordering and approval of curriculum and supplies.
  • Recommend building improvements and needs as part of the budgeting process to the Head of School.
  • Ensure elementary facilities and grounds are clean, safe and maintained and communicate any issues to the appropriate personnel.
  • Manage the elementary office in an efficient, effective, professional, courteous and compassionate manner.
  • Be visible, available and accessible to parents and staff by being present in halls, classrooms, faculty rooms, chapels and assemblies and attending elementary after-school events.

Professional Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree but preferred master’s degree in School administration or educational leadership
  • Minimum 5 years teaching experience
  • Proven administrative ability and leadership skills
  • Computer literacy
