Easter Blessing

“God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in time of trouble. Therefore, we will not fear, though the earth gives way and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea.” Psalm 46:1

“So, do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” Isaiah 41:10

A sense of fear and uncertainty has entered our world, our communities, and our homes in ways that many have never experienced before. I have found familiar passages of scripture like Psalm 46:1 and Isaiah 41:10 helpful in remembering the story of God’s faithfulness to his people throughout the ages, and the enduring promise that God is with us.

A few summers ago, I was standing in a small church in Omena, Michigan and received a blessing from the pastor that has remained with me. I’ve shared it with others through the years and I’d like to share it with you.

God go before you to lead you, God go behind you to protect you, God go beneath you to support you, God go beside you to befriend you. Do not be afraid.

May the blessing of God the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit be upon you. Do not be afraid. Go in peace to love and serve the Lord.
