Cultivating Christian Community Remotely
Written by Wendy Hofman, Head of School
“Now you are the body of Christ, and each one of you is a part of it.” Corinthians 12:27
We are the body of Christ. As we continue to navigate the circumstances in our world, in our communities, and in our homes, the idea of being part of the body of Christ informs our lives and helps us navigate our day to day circumstances together. We need one another in new ways, each of us contributing something unique and necessary. Working together and supporting one another has significance every single day.
Lansing Christian’s core value of Cultivating Christian Community is at the very center of how we are aiming to educate students remotely while we are away from our school building. People are seeking to play their part in connecting with and supporting one another. Teachers and students are engaging in more regular face time via technology, parents are providing helpful feedback and words of encouragement to teachers and principals, PreK-12 students are invited to be part of weekly chapels that includes music offerings by students and staff, students are gathering online to learn, to talk with one another and to engage in virtual play dates. We even did a fire drill “together” from our homes this week!
God created us to need one another and to live our everyday lives as members of Christ’s body. We are already learning a lot about the importance of Christian community during this time. I am thankful for our teachers, for our partnership with parents, and for each one of our precious students. God knew we would be weak on our own and stronger together.
REMOTE FIRE DRILL
Just because we are not in school doesn’t mean the fun and safety can’t continue. Several teachers and families participated in our remote fire drill this last Thursday. We love to see the creativity in our community… below are some fun pictures we received.
