Service

High School Service Week

During LCS’s long-standing Service Week each Spring, high school students spend three days serving a variety of organizations throughout greater Lansing, seeing local needs firsthand, developing service skills and etiquette, and growing a lifelong enthusiasm for serving as disciples of Christ.

Middle School Service Day

Each June, middle school students spend a day serving custodians and teachers by cleaning lockers and classrooms, organizing materials, assisting with elementary students, helping prepare for summer, and pitching in wherever needed to wrap up the school year.

Elementary Service Teams

In fifth grade, our crosswalk “Safety Patrol” members serve the school community by helping students and families safely navigate their way to and from parking lots before and after school. They serve in all kinds of weather with cheerful dedication.

Fourth-grade “Kindergarten Helpers” support some of our youngest students by walking them safely to their cars each afternoon, serving with patience and kindness.

Clean Water Project

High school biology students study the dangers of waterborne microorganisms and malaria, then put learning into action by serving those affected worldwide. Through creative fundraising efforts – including designing and selling t-shirts and stickers – classes annually raise around $10,000 for World Vision to provide clean drinking water and mosquito bed nets to families in need. Over the past fifteen years, LCS biology students have donated more than $80,000 through this project.
