Partnering with Parents: The Value of Parent-Teacher Conferences at LCS
At Lansing Christian School, one of the comments we hear most often from parents is how much they value the attentiveness and availability of our teachers. Our teachers are committed to truly knowing each student—as learners, as people, and as members of the classroom and school community. This partnership is at the core of the LCS experience, and fall Parent-Teacher Conferences provide a unique opportunity to strengthen this connection.
The Purpose of Fall Conferences
Scheduled strategically after the first and third quarters, our fall Parent-Teacher Conferences offer parents and teachers a chance to connect early on. This timing provides enough room for students to make adjustments or implement action plans for continued growth in the following quarter. Our goal is to provide proactive support, ensuring that each student has the tools they need to thrive.
The Benefits of Parent-Teacher Conferences
- Building Connections with Teachers: Conferences are an excellent opportunity to get to know your child’s teacher on a personal level. This foundational connection benefits both parents and teachers as they work together to support student growth.
- Celebrating Your Child’s Unique Qualities: Teachers share their perspectives on the unique qualities that make each child an image-bearer of God. From strengths to areas for growth, these conversations offer valuable insights into your child’s character and development.
- Understanding Classroom Engagement: Conferences provide insight into how your child participates in the learning environment and engages with their peers. Learning about these social and academic dynamics can help parents support similar values at home.
- Discussing Future Potential: Teachers often see potential in students and work to cultivate that within the school setting. Conferences open the door to discussing your child’s growth trajectory and goals for the future.
While Parent-Teacher Conferences are a scheduled opportunity to learn about your child’s progress, our teachers are regularly available to connect with parents after school hours. We encourage parents to make appointments when they’d like to discuss specific concerns or updates, helping maintain an open line of communication.
Building relationships with teachers, asking thoughtful questions, and offering words of gratitude along the way can truly enhance your child’s learning journey. Thank you for your ongoing investment in your child’s education at LCS! We look forward to seeing you at conferences and continuing this important partnership.
