LCS Stories

Kharis – 8th Grade

What is your current grade?
I am in 8th grade; I started at LCS in 2nd grade.

What do you like about LCS?
I love the fact that it is a small school so you get to know all the students, even in other grades, really well. I also really enjoy the fact that all the teachers and students care about every student as a whole person. They are so kind and involved in our lives even outside of school. Every single person at LCS is so kind, caring, and welcoming. They all are there to help you when you need it. One of my favorite parts of middle school has been participating in the MSU MATHCOUNTS competition, where I and some of my classmates were able to have fun while being challenged.

What is your favorite subject in school?
Math

How has a LCS teacher shown that they care about you?
Mrs. Fuller, for example, is a teacher who shows that she cares about me even outside of school. She came to my dance recital and even watched some of my competitions online. Since some of my cousins (who also attend LCS) and I do competitive dance, we aren’t able to be on many school sports teams, so this really showed how much she cared for us. By coming to our performances, it showed that she wants to support us.

What is an area you’ve grown in at school?
I have grown socially by branching out of my usual friend group. I used to hang out with just the girls in my grade, but this year I tried to branch out a little more and start hanging out with people from different grades – because of this I have made some great friends!

How has your faith developed or grown at LCS?
My faith has grown so much at LCS. I moved away for one year and attended another school during that time, and this helped to show me how amazing LCS is at helping you grow in your relationship with God. All the teachers in every subject show us how the things we are learning relate to God.
